This WebQuest is intended for 11th grade Algebra 2 students.  It can be assigned as an individual or as a group project. 

This WebQuest covers the following standards from the GSE:

  • MGSE9-12.A.CED.1 Create equations and inequalities in one variable and use them to solve problems. Include equations arising from linear, quadratic, simple rational, and exponential functions
     

  • MGSE9-12.A.CED.2 Create linear, quadratic, and exponential equations in two or more variables to represent relationships between quantities; graph equations on coordinate axes with labels and scales. (The phrase “in two or more variables” refers to formulas like the compound interest formula, in which A = P(1 + r/n)nt has multiple variables.)
     

  • MGSE9-12.F.IF.8b Use the properties of exponents to interpret expressions for exponential functions. For example, identify percent rate of change in functions such as y = (1.02)t , y = (0.97)t , y = (1.01)(12t), y = (1.2)(t/10), and classify them as representing exponential growth and decay
     

  • MGSE9-12.A.CED.4 Rearrange formulas to highlight a quantity of interest using the same reasoning as in solving equations. Examples: Rearrange Ohm’s law V = IR to highlight resistance R; Rearrange area of a circle formula A = π r2 to highlight the radius r.
